Important information
If you think you may have been exposed to HIV in the past 72 hours, go immediately to a clinic or emergency department and ask for
PEP—“
Post-exposure Prophylaxis”. If started right away, emergency
PEP can stop HIV.
NYC PEP Hotline (844-3-PEPNYC) to find NYC clinics with experience providing
PEP. You can also call the Hotline - any time, day or night - to get started on
PEP right away.
If you are HIV-negative and regularly have sex without condoms, ask your doctor about
PrEP—“
Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis”—a daily pill that can protect you from HIV if taken every day.

PrEP.
If you are HIV-positive and need to connect to care, text CARE to 877877. You can also
