What is age adjustment?

†Adjusted to the year 2000 U.S. Standard Population

The New York City Health and Examination Survey (NYC HANES) was a population-based, cross-sectional survey of non-institutionalized NYC residents, ages 20 years and older. Participants responded to a health questionnaire, provided urine and blood samples, and had their height, weight, and blood pressure measured. Survey data are weighted to adjust for complex sampling design, nonresponse, and post-stratification, using the 2013 American Community Survey (ACS).To obtain estimated population numbers, data are weighted to the NYC non-institutionalized population ages 20 and older, based on ACS 2008-2012.
